Rhizoctonia Root Rot

Symptoms:
• Sudden wilting & yellowing of foliage
• Brown to black lesions near the base of petioles
• Dead leaves remain attached to crown & form dry, dark rosette
• Consult "Root" section for Rhizoctonia Root Rot

Epidemiology:
• Grows between 54-95° F
• Optimum 68-91° F
• Does not require high soil moisture, but most severe in heavy, poorly drained soil or wet areas

Control:
• +3 year crop rotation, avoiding corn and beans
• Irrigation management
• Reduction of soil compaction and excessive soil moisture
• Fungicide applications in-furrow and/or at 62° F soil temperature
