Aphanomyces Root Rot

Symptoms:
• Stunted plants with erected leaves
• Yellowing of lower foliage
• Plants are wilting on hot, sunny days but recover overnight & during cool, cloudy days

Epidemiology:
• Favored by warm temperatures (68-86° F)
• Inactive below 59° F
• Can be found in over-irrigated, light textured soils
• Severe in heavy, poorly drained soils or wet areas

Control:
• Seed treatments for early season infection
• Tolerant varieties and irrigation management of mid-season infection
• Spent lime applications
